The term “dirtbag” has been used in the climbing community to describe a climber dedicated to the lifestyle of living out in the “dirt”, ever closer to the rock, to be able to climb as much as possible. Whilst looking for an alternative to packaging, we chanced upon a company that calls themselves the same name!
Enter Dirtbag Packaging. They use corn starch, PLA (vegetable-based plastic material), and PBAT (composting co-polymer) to create a compostable mailer. These mailers are durable and waterproof, and we are glad to have stumbled upon such a brilliant service.
If you purchase our products, you would most likely be receiving them in a Dirtbag.
If you have a home compost or know someone who does, consider disposing of your Dirtbag in it. You can also check with your local council if they allow for compostable bags to be disposed of in the green waste bins. Take note, compostable bags do not decompose in a landfill. If you want to quicken the composting process, you can cut your Dirtbag up into smaller pieces. Don’t forget to remove all labels.
These Dirtbag mailers have a shelf life of up to 10 months so even before you dispose of them into your compost, you can reuse them as carriers for your own purposes. Extending the life of a thing is something we care about as well so check out our Second Chance bottles.
Climb safe everyone.
